Angie Sayer

Angie Angie has been a ceramic maker for 25 years and is an accomplished potter with work displayed in national exhibitions, specialising in hand thrown earthenware, stoneware and porcelain.
Angie studied Fine Art at Homerton College Cambridge and more recently Design and Technology at Middlesex University. She learnt her pottery skills from Cambridge based potter and engineer Val Hunt and went on to make and sell her own work as well as teaching pottery at Kings College School where she opened a dedicated studio producing work for gallery exhibition, later becoming Head of Design and Technology.

Angie left full time teaching in 2003 and became involved with organising specialist exhibitions of 20th century artists and managing a gallery in Monmouth, whilst continuing to make her own work and teach ceramics at her home based workshop. Between 2008-9 Angie became a New Brewery Arts Resident Maker in Cirencester.

She now works from her studio near Epsom. She continues to visit schools as a guest artist working with children for the day making ceramic pieces either as part of the national curriculum course or as a one off project in the Cheltenham area.

In May 2010 she is running a weekend course entitled "The Art of Ceramics (for greater pleasure)" at Farncombe Estate in the Cotswolds.

She is also developing links with various schools and adult courses in the Surrey area so keep checking here for updates.

Angie's work is inspired by the environment around her and explores the continual mystery of the mixing of earth and fire. She has studied Picasso's ceramics and enjoys manipulating thrown forms into figures and birds. She has also recently created lifesized ceramic flower arrangements.

Angie takes commissions and teaches ceramics classes in the UK and elsewhere by arrangement.
