Adult education

Ceramic classes are great fun for all ages.

Join a course and learn making techniques such as slab building, throwing, coiling and slip casting as well as surface finish techniques and glazing methods. You will learn ways to develop ideas and be encouraged to explore the work of other makers. Suitable for beginners and people with some experience.

Unit 1B: Investigating materials. What is clay? Chemical changes that occur on heating

Unit 2C: Buildings design and make a relief tile or free standing building-slabbing

Unit 3C: Investigating pattern design and make a coil pot using sgraffito decoration

Unit 5B: Containers-reference to contemporary crafts people. Design & make pinch pots

Unit 9gen: Visiting a museum, gallery or site. Cheltenham Museum-Art & Craft Gallery or other as appropriate.

Key Stages 3

Unit 7B: What's in a building? Make a small sculpture of a building or relief tile.

Unit 8A: objects and viewpoints taking casts of different parts of objects. Make a plaster cast- Create a relief mould.

Unit 9C: Personal places, public spaces

Unit 10gen: visit a museum, Art Gallery
